Feeling drained? Incompatible with your current life?

As a marketer, I can tell you the quick fixes, the fast this or that’s that can get you feeling great, smiling again, and being the most productive you you can be.

But as a fellow human?

I’ve decided I’m just going to sit here and listen.

A wilting flower has much to say. At one stage in her life, she began to second guess her abilities, second guess her path, and lost sight of the signals that were leading her oh-so well.

Somewhere, she listened to someone else’s words of advice, and it caused her to hesitate, to blanch, and made her take pause… for far too long of a moment.

She stared down at her limp hands, felt her shoulders turn over her chest, and her heart’s glow dimmed.

But why? And how? Was it her fault she became so pitiful?

Yes

And no.

In all that time she took to heed the advice of others, to show respect by following through on their well-meant words, she forgot her own voice.

Now she finds herself staring out the window, seeing a beautiful day, but for some reason she tells herself “It’s not your day though.”

But why? Why isn’t it?

Because she is a work in progress. All those words of advice, however kindly they were meant, made her feel judged and slowly, inconspicuously, they ate away at her confidence.

“You can’t enjoy the sun, there’s too much work to be done.”

“You can’t do that thing you enjoy doing because someone else is counting on you.”

And so the sun continued to shine outside, but her light continued to dim.

How to break the spell?

How to cast out guilt, self-doubt, and get back on that path?

Listen.

No, truly listen.

No more listening to other’s advice, without any regard to where it comes from. Much of the advice given to a wilting flower is created out of fear. “I went through a similar event, and so listen to my advice.” But their advice is limiting, and not always meant for you.

The only advice worth truly listening to– is your own. Or not even your own, but somewhere within that connects to something beyond you.

Perhaps it’s God, perhaps it’s the universe, perhaps it’s a time-loop’s pull. But something- beyond- is calling you, and when you listen– it feels damn good.

It’s your spiritual filter that hears the advice given to you and let’s you know if it’s meant for your ears, or if it’s meant for the person speaking them to you.

So, wilting flower, pick your head up, breathe a welcoming breath, cry a little if you must,

But put your hand on your chest, throw a large middle finger at the unseen oppression, and dance back into the light- whatever- and wherever that may be for you.

Oh, and I’m sorry about giving this advice. Only listen to it if it feels good to.
